Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce
Thanks for the recommendation, Tom. I asked Lucy about it, and whether she'd read it yet or not through school. She reads that many, it's hard to keep track! Anyway, it turns out it's on her "recommended reading list" for Year 6 this next autumn term. So if she doesn't beat me to it, maybe we'll pick it up after LotR and read it together.
